It will be nothing more than sweet revenge on the minds of the Red Devils when they welcome Liverpool for this early lunch time kickoff after the 4-1 defeat suffered by Manchester United at Old Trafford last March.

One thing is for sure Rafa Benitez will not give in easily as they are battling for the fourth Champions League spot with Tottenham and Manchester City as well as Aston Villa here.

It was at this stage of the season last year when Liverpool beat Manchester Un ited 4-1 to spark a tense conclusion to the title race, which United eventually edged by four points to move level with Liverpool on 18 league trophies. After one year later, United are once again battling for the defence of the Premiership and are desperate to overtake their rivals with a 19th successful top-flight campaign, but Liverpool have battled through the season and finishing fourth will now be considered a major achievement come in May.

The Red Devils will start as the firm favourites but it need to be stated here that was also the case when at Anfield, back in October when their hosts ended a worst sequence of results since 1987 with a 2-0 win and a third straight victory over United.

B ut United will be eager to get the better of their rivals after suffering a rare sequence of defeats to Liverpool and that will no doubt motivate the defending Champions here and they are desperate to beat Liverpool, who have only the Europa League as a chance for a medal, while they are down in confidence.

In the recent two weeks the gap between these two clubs have shown as while United were flexing their UEFA Champions League-winning potential by demolishing AC Milan, Liverpool were forced to earn a hard fought, two legged victory over Lille in the Europa League.

United will be keen to go one better and get their 19th trophy and better Liverpool's 18 league wins. The good news is that United will welcome back RTyan Giggs for this clash. Giggs has missed seven games since breaking his arm at Aston Villa in February, but has returned to training without a problem and is expected to play a part on Sunday early kickoff.

Wayne Rooney will continue to lead the United attack as he is enjoying some of the best football this season in the absence of Ronaldo in the side. At the back, Nemanja Vidic will be hoping to stay on the pitch after being sent off the last three times he has faced Liverpool. The m ain threat will no doubt come from striker Fernando Torres.

Former Liverpool hero Michael Owen is out for the season through injury, while Wes Brown, Rafael da Silva, Anderson, John O'Shea and Owen Hargreaves are also out of first-team action.

Benitez will offer a late fitness test for Fabio Aurelio, a hero from last season after his free-kick goal at Old Trafford, but the Brazilian was undergoing additional physiotherapy in midweek and is very likely to be out.

Martin Skrtel is still missing with a broken metatarsal, while it remains to be seen if the injury-prone Alberto Aquilani will recover from the virus which kept him out of the win against Lille. Maxi Rodriguez was ineligible on Thursday and should return as Albert Riera has been told to stay away from the club following his outburst against Rafa Benitez style of training.
