2010-03-20 - Stoke vs Tottenham
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Tottenham will be looking to consolidate their fourth spot when they take on Stoke today at the Britannia Stadium. Tottenham have managed three consecutive wins and they are now one point clear of Liverpool and two clear of Man City as they look to keep their fourth spot.
Tottenham knows what is at stake and cann ot afford to drop any points here. But Stoke are not easy to beat at home as they have lost just four times in 15 league outings at the Britannia. Also Stoke have a better record than most at home against Spurs as they have won two of their three top-flight meetings, including a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane earlier this season.
Going into this match Tony Pulis is deciding whether to bring back Ryan Shawcross after he is available from suspension now. The 22-year-old was banned for the red card he picked up in his tackle with Aaron Ramsey but is now back in the side.
If he does comes back then that means Shawcross is most likely to partner Robert Huth at the back with Danny Collins making way and Danny Higginbotham reverting to left-back. Whelan, is a fitness doubt, so Liam Lawrence is on stand-by.
If Whelan does n ot feasture then Dean Whitehead will switch from the right to partner Rory Delap in central midfield. That gives Lawrence a chance on the right, but he has to be wary of Spurs midfielder Gareth Bale.
Ricardo Fuller could be given the chance to start after Tuncay's reaction to being substituted against Aston Villa while Mamady Sidibe should be given the task to score upfront.
For Tottenham, boss Harry Redknapp is forced into one change after confirming that Jermaine Defoe will be out for sometime after tearing his hamstring. Peter Crouch is sure to partner Roman Pavlyuchenko up front as Jermaine Defoe is out injured. Eidur Gudjohnsen is also another option for Redknapp.
Bale is certain to continue on the left wing after he played well against Blackburn in the 3-1 win. Niko Kranjcar should keep his right-wing berth playing in front of compatriot Vedran Corluka as Aaron Lennon and David Bentley is still on the sidelines.
Take Tottenham to win this match.
Cheers and good luck,
