Strange lot aren’t they, this Wigan side? They surprised everyone by clinically dispatching of Liverpool 1-0 and then went and got thrashed straight after. While that leaves us wondering what to do here, the one positive is that we get a great price on Wigan at home against a seriously weak Burnley side struggling to look competitive.
Gary Caldwell is in the side, and probably not looking forward to perhaps playing his brother for the first time. Steve Caldwe…. You don’t really care do you?
So, Wigan won the reverse fixture 3-1, with the hero against Liverpool, Rodallega scoring a brace. He is fit and will play here again, and could very well end up scoring again, as I cannot see Burnley travelling away and keeping a clean sheet.
Burnley
Burnley have never beaten Wigan, but have a chance here as Wigan have only managed the 1 win in their last 10 games. Mind you, that solitary victory was over Liverpool. Burnley are struggling with their form too. Leave alone away form, they have registered only the one win in their last 19 games! But, with Wigan having already shipped a massive 59 goals this season, you’d have to fancy Burnley’s chances of getting on the scoresheet.
While Wigan punctuated their dire form with an especially impressive win against a big side, Burnley have done the same, with their only away point coming away at big spending Manchester City. Perhaps a big effort here could net them a precious point, as god knows they really need it if they are to escape relegation.
Brian Law, whos new job is already on the line, will have to wait to get his second win. While I won’t put anyone off backing Wigan @ 1.80 (Bet365), I feel there are better bets to be had. And you have to admit, there is a very good chance Burnley get a draw here when we’re least expecting it.
The Betting Verdict :
Burnley and Wigan just don’t know how to find a win these days, but both teams are right up there in the top three worst defences.
Look, both sides can’t defend to save their lives this season - add to that the fact that they both need points and you have an open game with a fair few goals.
