Mmmmm, see now this is the kind of tie you wait for to spend your money. Home win. Cash it.
Bordeaux (France)
After ending the 7 year reign of Lyon in Ligue 1, Bordeaux have now progressed under the radar into the knockout stages in impeccable form, and now have one foot firmly in the quarter-finals.
The home side is still unbeaten in the competition, with impressive wins over Juventus and Bayern Munich. The last leg, in Greece, ended with a 1-0 win for the French champions. That's a lead, coupled with a precious away goal.
Chamakh will lead the striking line-up, and I wouldn't put anyone off a cheeky wager on him to score at any time @ (Bet365). The French champions have not been beaten at home in the Champions League, and so are now rightly priced at 1.10 to qualify.
Manager Blanc is clearly taking this match very seriously, leaving nothing to chance, as he rested several of his starters in the last match, a 0-0 draw with Monaco. They still sit top of the French tables though, and with their first team ready to return well rested, you would not bet on them to suffer their first CL loss at the Stade Chaban Triaud.
A look at this year's CL results cements my confidence in this team. In the group stages, Bordeaux won five, and drew one, conceding only 2 goals. They have won their first leg 1-0.
At home, Bordeaux have conceded only 1 goal, and are undefeated. Last year, they went through their entire campaign without a home loss. Convinced yet?
Olympiacos (Greece)
Quite simple for the Greek Champions really. They need to score at least 2 goals here, and they need to win. Although, when you realise this team has yet to score away from home, let alone win, this is a tough ask!
The Greeks did do well in the first leg in terms of possession. Although while they did keep the ball for the majority of the game, they failed to do much with it. Against a water-tight Bordeaux defence, this will be a difficult stat to change away from home.
Olympiacos's best chance of scoring would have to be on setplays. But their opponents are perfectly skilled to handle any team that relies on a deadball situation to gain an advantage.
Olympiacos have conceded 4 goals in their last 3, so they are bound to give up at least a goal here. 3 goals is just too much to ask for any team against Bordeaux, and if they go looking for goals here they'll get torn apart at the back.
The Betting Verdict
Olympiacos must score, and then score again, while keeping a clean sheet. They're going to get caught on the break and give up an early goal, and then get finished off while trying to salvage the tie.
A Home win banker.
