Analysis:Palermo made this long trip to face Udinese in a bid to keep their fourth spot from the threat of Juventus. Udinese is clear out of the relegation zone but will not want to fall back into the relegation zone and cannot afford to lose here.
The home side have only managed a point from their last three games. Their team has been unsettled by the news that star player and captain Antonio Di Natale could leave the side in the summer. To make things worse for Coach Pasquale Marino, his defence which are already the second worse in Serie A, is badly depleted and he will have to rely on their reserved for this match.
Serbian Dusan Basta is unavailable and the likes of Mauricio Isla (ankle), Maurizio Domizzi (not match fit) and Andrea Coda (groin problem) looks likely to join him. If the latter two does not recover in time then Marino will be forced to rely upon the combination of Ferronetti-Zapata-Lukovic-Pasquale for this match.
In attack they will also miss the services of Simone Pepe due to a one match suspension. But Marino will likely opt for a 4-3-3 form ation still as tested in a midweek friendly that will feature Antonio Floro-Flores and Alexis Sanchez in support of Serie A top scorer Di Natale.
For the visitors Palermo, they are the form sides coming into this match that the club's President has been bold enough to state that their target is to now catch Roma in third.
Coach Delio Rossi does have some selections problems ahead of this clash. In a midweek friendly, the team scored goals through the likes of Fabrizio Miccoli and Edinson Cavani. Behind them however it is unlikely Javier Pastore will recover from the knock suffered against Livorno. That means that we will see Fabio Simplicio coming into the starting eleven as his replacement.
The problem lies in midfield with the likes of Mark Bresciano and Giulio Migliaccio out injured. Manuele Blasi is likely to come in to replace Migliaccio. But the good news is that in defence we will see the return of Mattia Cassani as he had to serve a one match ban that kept him out from the Livorno win.
Watch out for Fabrizio Miccoli upfront as he is the man in form at the moment.
Take Palermo and accept the 1/4 ball for a draw at least.
