Italian Serie A
2010-03-14 - S.S Lazio vs Bari
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Both of these teams enter this match with just one win in their last five matches. Bari even though managed a win in their last match, does not have a good record at the Stadio Olimpico.
Bari's record at the Stadio Olimpico reads as six wins, 11 draws and 23 defeats in all competitions. The last win was 2-1 on January 29 1995 in Serie A, followed by five losses and one 0-0 draw. These sides haven’t met here since Lazio won 2-1 back in the Coppa Italia in January 2003. The last meeting was won by Bari when they woin 2-0 at the San Nicola Stadium earlier in the season.
Lazio comes into this match delighted by the news that their fans have decided to end their protest and flock to the stadium to support their team. Their last home game was played in an almost empty stadium as the fans stayed away.
Lazio though have problems upfront as they are without striker Mauro Zarate upfront and will welcome Bari who are high on confidence after getting a win to end their disastrous results.
As it is now Lazio are just three points above the relegation zone and have won only once in the last nine matches. That was the 2-0 at Parma on Reja’s debut after replacing Davide Ballardini in mid-February. And surprisingly, Lazio have not won at home since the 4-1 win over Livorno on January 6, followed by two draws and a defeat.
Last weekend Lazio was beaten by Sampdoria 2-1. Mauro Zarate was sent off after dissent and had to be restrained by his team mates. This means he will be out of this match as well as the trip to Cagliari to come.
The home side also has a huge injury list to contend with. The likes of Julio Cruz, Fabio Firmani, Mourad Meghni, Pasquale Foggia, Christian Manfredini, Albano Bizzarri, Ousmane Dabo, Andre Dias and possibly Stephan Lichtsteiner are all out injured. Should Reja stick to his 4-3-3 formation as last wekk then we could see Stephen Makinwa come into the fold with Sergio Floccari and Tommaso Rocchi in attack.
For Bari, they ended a run of four consecutive losses when they managed to win their last match against Chievo. Bari also have a huge injury list which includes the likes of Alessandro Parisi, Mariano Donda, Vitalii Kutuzov, Andrea Ranocchia, Emmanuel Rivas and Alessandro Gazzi. Javier ‘Nacho’ Castillo finally found the target and should again start alongside Barreto with Riccardo Allegretti providing support.
Take S.S Lazio to get the win here now that their fans are back to support them.
Cheers and good luck,
