Italian Serie A
2010-03-14 - Livorno vs A.S Roma
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:A.S Roma will be looking to get a win here after the last time these two sides met earlier in the season they were beaten by Livorno. Things have changed since that meeting on 25th October and it was Livorno's first win at the Stadio Olimpico in 62 years so Roma will be looking for revenge here.
As it is now Livorno are in the relegation zone while Roma are unbeaten in 17 Serie A matches now. Since then Roma went on to beat Udinese 2-1 three days after that and then recorded 12 wins and 5 draws.
However Roma has drawn their last two games and their last match saw them being held to a goalless draw by A.C Milan. But the good news is that they are set to welcome back Luca Toni after a six weeks absence due to a calf injury. Luca Toni has a good record against Livorno having scored seven goals past Livorno in 10 meetings. In midweek he scored a hattrick in a test match playing against a youth side.
Francesco Totti continues to be out as he recovers from a knee injury but that is the only worry for Claudio Ranieri. Behing Toni in attack is the likes of Rodrigo Taddei, Mirko Vucinic and Simone Perrotta to support him. Marco Cassetti will battle with Marco Motta
for the right-back role with Nicolas Andre Burdisso again likely to start instead of Philippe Mexes.
Livorno are coming into this match with four co nsecutive defeat as they were beaten by Palermo 1-0 last weekend. Livorno did well for 80 minutes before Fabrizio Miccoli finally scored.
Livorno will be hoping for a point at least as they are now in the bottom three battling against relegation. Livorno have picked up just two points from their last eight games and will be hard pressed to get anything out here.
One player who will be hoping to do well is Francesco Tavano as he scored the last time these two sides met and will be hoping to once again get the better of his former club. However that is only one of the two goals he scored all season and he has been poor upfront.
The home side has been poor in attack with only 17 goals scored all season. Tavano and hometown hero Cristiano Lucarelli will start upfront instead of Tomas Danilevicius and David Di Gennaro.
Meanwhile the home side will miss Cristian Raimondi who is suspended while Leonardo Miglionico and Alessandro Bernardiniare out with injuries. The likes of Nico Pulzetti and Fabio Galante are still out with a flu virus so they will miss this clash.
Take note that Livorno have held Roma to draws in the last three meetings at this stadium but have not won this match since 1949 at home.
So take A.S Roma for the win here, but just by a slim margin.
Cheers and good luck,
Cruiser
