It has been a long time since Sunderland defeated Arsenal 1-0 at the Stadium of Light and that was when Darren Bent earned them that win way back in November.

However, since that time the Black Cats have failed to win in a staggering 14 Premier League games and have fallen from eighth to 16th position in the standings to leave the club just three points clear of the relegation places.

On the other hand, Bolton, under Owen Coyle, appears to have his Bolton side finding results to match their new, style of play. Two crucial wins over struggling Wolves and West Ham have lifted the Trotters to 13th spot in the league. That also caused them to overtake Sunderland in the table. That also put them five points off the clear zone.

Steve Bruce goes into this match with a selection headache as a number of injury problems as kick-off approaches. The likes of Lee Cattermole, Jordan Henderson, Andy Reid and Kieran Richardson are all doubtful to face Bolton.

Reid and Henderson are close to returns from hamstring and ankle problems respectively, but the Tuesday's game may come just too soon for them. Richardson is struggling with a new calf injury and Cattermole has a hamstring-related issue which is not going to be solved easily.

As for Bolton, Mark Davies is due to return after having missed the last three games with an ankle problem. Tamir Cohen is suspended after he was sent off against West Ham and Gary Cahill is still out for another week.

The likes of Stuart Holden, Gavin McCann, Chris Basham, Joey O'Brien and Sean Davis are all still out of the side.
