Saturday 6th March 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
My last tip of this weekend, and I couldn’t resist sharing this one with you as the odds are yet again too good to turn down.
Aldershot Town (8th) Home 9-6-2 34:18
Free-scoring Aldershot who have a really good chance of making the play-offs, entertain a Burton side who must be pretty pleased with their season in League football, who also have an outside chance of play-off dreams.
The Shots though are in good form at their Recreation Ground, which is evident when you look at their home record 9-6-2 34/18, a team who have flown under the radar all season, and have lost only one match in their last ten home games, that being a 2-3 loss to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Striker Marvin Morgan (10 goals) is their leading scorer, but he’s struggling to be fit for this match, with the creativity being provided by the impressive midfielder Scott Donnelly (9 goals, 11 assists). Fellow midfielder Louis Soares (7 goals) also knows the way to goal and can prove a real handful.
Burton Albion (14th) Away : 5-4-7 24:29
Burton boss Paul Peschisolido seems to be content with a top-half finish and may tinker a little with formations etc.
Yes, they have won a few away games recently, but these were against the likes of Torquay United (3-2), Cheltenham Town (1-0) and Hereford United (4-3) and no offence to these teams but they are not an Aldershot Town.
Striker Shaun Harrad (13gls,1asst) is the obvious dangerman for Albion, but again will be missing defenders in Jackson and Stride.
This is of particular interest as Burton tend to concede too many goals on the road and could be exploited again today.
Burton’s away stats read 5-4-7 24/29, and while they’ve held their own with the big-boys this season, their wins have largely been against teams lower than them in the league and the difference in class could be on show here this afternoon.
