2010-03-06 - Nottingham Forest vs Swansea City
A Sports Betting Pick by Armchair
Football : England : Championship
Saturday 6th March 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
A delve into the Championship this week for a change, as I saw some really good odds on the home side here and couldn’t resist throwing out a value pick for this weekend.
Nottingham Forest entertain Swansea City in what is the match of the weekend in the Championship – 3rd v 4th and the prize on offer is Forest could leapfrog West Brom into 2nd place or Swansea could cut Forest’s lead on them to two points.
A truly mouth-watering prospect should be on the cards here.
Nottingham Forest (3rd) Home : 13-1-3 35:13
Let’s take a look at Nottingham Forest and their remarkable season so far; their home record is fantastic with thirteen wins (equal with Newcastle Utd) although they tend not to draw too many – the full record is -1-3 35/13.
But what is eye-catching is Forest's nine-game winning sequence at home which stretches back from November 2009 when they beat Doncaster Rovers 4-1 to present. In fact, they have drawn one game and won their last twelve home matches, an incredible feat given their uncertain season last year.
However, Forest will want to bounce back from their 0-3 defeat at bitter rivals Leicester City last weekend, and with players like Dexter Blackstock (10 goals, 5 assists) and Robert Earnshaw (11 goals) and Radoslaw Majewski (6 assists) providing the ammunition, Nottingham have a good chance of walking away with all three points on Saturday.
Swansea City (4th) 6-7-3 15:13
Swansea City also have been in form away from home recently, with a seven game unbeaten run, they have proved they are a decent bet to get promoted via the play-offs in all reality.
The Swansea City away stats read 6-7-3 15/13, with midfielder Darren Pratley (6 goals, 2 assists) their leading scorer.
But if I had to make a criticism, and this where Swansea could come unstuck at the City Ground on Saturday, it’s their lack of away goals which could be the difference here.
THe Bett5ing Verdict
The Swans in their last five away matches have scored 5 goals, whereas Forest in their last five home matches have scored 11.
On this basis, I think there’s likely to be a bit of “we’ll score one more than you” mentality in this match with a scoreline of Forest winning 2-1 perhaps?
The Pick :
NottingHam Forest 2-1 Swansea City
