Analysis:Portsmouth currently bottom of the Premiership will hope to get something from this match against Sunderland who have failed to win in their last 11 games.
However, Portsmouth have now taken just one point from their last six league games while the Black Cats have managed four points. Avram Grant side did beat Sunderland on home soil in January after John Utaka cancelled out Darren Bent's early opener for the visitors.
Portsmouth enters this match without the services of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Anthony Vanden Borre. Vanden Borre limped off during the second half of Pompey's 5-0 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday and his replacement, Boateng, was also forced out with an ankle injury.
Steve Finnan could replace Vanden Borre at right-back if he is ruled out for this clash. Utaka (hamstring) may return but Papa Bouba Diop is still out injured.
As for Sunderland, midfielder Jordan Henderson will be out for up to four weeks as manager Steve Bruce waits to see the true extend of his injury.
Bruce will also be without John Mensah (hamstring), Kieran Richardson (calf) and Anton Ferdinand (ankle) at Fratton Park as the Black Cats hopes to get a win here.
