Analysis:
Everton who have a poor record at home will go in search for only their third win at Goodison Park when they welcome the visit of Burnley. But despite being plagued with injuries, they can take positives from the fact that they will face Burnley who are winless on their travels this season.
Everton currently sit two places off the bottom of the standings desperately needs a win here. The Toffees have struggled for consitency as they have been hard hit by injuries this season. Everton have not won in their last seven matches and are now in danger of dropping into the bottom three as some difficult games approaches.
Everton's last win was at Upton Park when they beat West Ham 2-1 in early November. Since then they have drawn four and lost three games. Their last win at Goodison was against Blackburn Rovers when they managed a 3-0 win way back in September. But facing a Burnley side that have yet to win on their travels this season, the Toffees will be confident of only their third win at home this season.
Burnley comes into this match with a terrible away record. They have been beaten in eight of their nine matches on the road since gaining promotion from the Championships. Burnley are a point above Everton heading into this match and are on a poor run of form themselves.
Their last win was as far back as October when they beat a Hull 2-0 at Turf Moor.
Hull have since drawn five and lost three of their matches. However, three of those draws came against high-flyers Arsenal, Man City and Aston Villa.
With regards to the team news, after having been out since September, Phil Neville could return to the Toffees starting line-up. He was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Boxing Day.
Sylvain Distin and Joseph Yobo are still rated doubtful while Mikel Arteta, Dan Gosling, Victor Anichebe and Jack Rodwell remain long-term absentees.
As for Burnley, Steven Caldwell and Clarke Carlisle will be given late fitness tests before kickoffs. They were missing from the 1-1 draw with Bolton due to groin injuries so their condition will be assessed.
