Analysis:
Everton will be looking to end their poor run of seven games without a win when they travel to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Moyes has been hard hit by injury problems as well as fixture congestions now means they will find it difficult to qualify for Europe next season.
As it stands now Everton are lying in 15th spot where they are two points off the relegation zone and they could fall into the bottom three if they lose at the Stadium of Light and other results go against them. Moyes has also the knockout stages of the Europa League to worry about apart from battling against relegation here.
The omens are good for Everton as they have won here on their last four visits and did not conceded a goal. The host are not in their best form as well going into this clash so they will be eager for three points as well.
Sunderland comes into this match winning just once in their last six matches and their early season form has all fizzled out. Last week they were beaten by Manchester City 4-3 but they did put up a good resistance in what was to be Mark Hughes last match in charge of City. Steve Bruce's side came from two goals down to level and held City back once again to make it 3-3, only for Roque Santa Cruz to score the winner for a 4-3 win.
To make it worse for Sunderland, Michael Turner was dismissed so Steve Bruce will be having a dilemma here as he is banned for four games. Captain Lorik Cana returns to give more strength in midfield. Steed Malbranque is doubtful with a dead leg. The good news is midfielder Bolo Zenden is due back from a hamstring injury but keeper Craig Gordon (broken arm) and defender Anton Ferdinand (ankle) remains out.
As for Everton, Jack Rodwell's injury will be out of four weeks after limping out of the defeat to BATE Borisov. Sylvain Distin and Joseph Yobo is out till the New Year with a similar problem. While the likes of Victor Anichebe, Phil Neville and Mikel Arteta (all knee) are also out.
James Vaughan is likely to come back after the 1-1 drw woith Birmingham with the striker coming on as a late substitute.Dan Gosling and Jo is also due for a return.
