This game has been one of the great rivalries in college football for ages. That has somewhat been diminished by the fact that they no longer play every year due to conference scheduling.
Both teams come into the game at 5-3. However, they couldn't be much different.
Oklahoma Sooners (5-3)
Oklahoma's 3 losses have all been to quality opponents in close games.
- A 1-point loss to BYU, who is just outside the top 25 at this point and have been ranked in the top 20 most of the year.
- A 1-point loss away to Miami, currently ranked #17.
- A 3-point loss to #2 Texas.
Oklahoma have done most of this without their star QB Sam Bradford, who has been lost for the season after re-injuring his shoulder early against Texas.
Bradford's replacement Landry Jones has done well as there are many playmakers on the offense. Oklahoma has outgained their opponent in every game except for the first, but has had trouble finishing off drives at times.
For that reason, Oklahoma is only 3-4-1 ATS this season. All of Oklahoma's games had been UNDER the total, until last week when they won 42-30 with the total line set at 47.5.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-3)
Nebraska, on the other hand, got off to a good start at 4-1, but then lost at home to Texas Tech (10-31) and Iowa State (7-9) before beating lowly Baylor last week.
Nebraska won their first 5 ATS, but have lost the last 3. Similar to Oklahoma, only 1 of their games have gone OVER the total (that one went over by a single point).
Head to Head
Last season Oklahoma defeated Nebraska 62-28. Oklahoma has won the past 4 meetings in all (and are 3-1 ATS in those meetings).
The Betting Verdict
Oklahoma seems to be the much better team at this point. Nebraska has a strong defense, but seems too limited offensively to keep up.
The Pick :
Oklahoma 24, Nebraska 10
