Last weekend Hamburger have claimed the top of the Bundesliga after their very good performance against Schalke 04. They have earned a point against their rivals, but were playing with ten men in the second half, so the result was good for the team. However, it was unfortunate that they have lost all three points in the last minutes of the match.
Swedish International Marcus Berg is in excellent form, and after his match winning goal in the Europa League against Celtic, he continued to inspire the team and scored twice against Schalke. The absence of the first choice striker Mladen Petric is more bearable now and Berg has surprised many with his maturity in the game.
Berg will be the only striker in this match but he has proved himself with four goals so far in the Bundesliga campaign.
Hamburger is a team that plays offensively and in the previous ten rounds have failed to score only once - against their top rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
Marcel Jansen is expected again in the starting line-up and he is a player with lots of potential, so he will get his chance. Alex Silva became a father and will not play in this match; he is already in Brasil to celebrate his newborn child.
Borussia Monchengladbach
M`Gladbach are in poor form and are currently fourth from the bottom with only eight points out of ten matches. They have had a dismal series with six straight defeats which was ended last weekend when they drew against FC Koln in match without goals.
Their defense is one of the worst in the league and they have already conceded 18 goals.
Borussia coach Michael Frontzeck said that the team has nothing to lose against Hamburg and that he will use two strikers in this match, but has not announced who will be his choices.
After three months out with injury Filip Daems slowly is getting in shape and is expected to play, but Gal Alberman (heel irritation) and Frederic Löhe (elbow sprain) are unlikely to play. Marcel Meeuwis is also set to return to play after recovering from flu.
The Betting Verdict
Hamburger is a strong team home and away, which is obvious. They share the top on level points with Bayer Leverkusen, and having in mind that Bayer has a very tough away match against Schalke i expect them to use their chance and get a win here.
I do not think that Monchengladbach will end their bad series against this opponent, and i do think that HSV have much deeper squad regardless of some missing players.
