Analysis:
The clash between two Champions - Manchester United Premiership Champions against the League Championship winners in the Carling Cup.
However United are expected to bring on their second side after the dramatic 4-3 win over Mancester City last weekend while Mick McCarthy's wolves side will go for an all out attack approach.
Michael Owen who turned out as a late winner in the match against City will make his second start for the club since his arrival on a free transfer from Newcastle United after coming on as a late substitute at the weekend.
Italian youngster Federico Macheda is expected to be given a chance to partner Owen in attack. On the right flank we will see Danny Welbeck being given a chance to start this match.
In central midfield, Darron Gibson who did well in this competition is once again expected to be given that role. He will have Michael Carrick alongside him with Portuguese International Nani starting on the left.
In the centre of defence we can expect to see the likes of Wes Brown and Jonny Evans with Gary Neville at right-back, while Fabio da Silva and Ritchie de Laet are battling it out to start on the left side. With Van der Sar still out, Tomasz Kuszczak is expected to be given a start replacing Ben Foster in between the sticks.
For the visitors Wolves, McCarthy will adopt an attacking option with the 4-4-2 formation being the most preferred choice here. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who featured for United back in 2005 in this competition will play against them after recovering from his injury. Winger Michael Kightly will also start after playing in Sunday's win over Fulham as a late substitute.
In attack we will see Ebanks-Blake partnering Austria international Stefan Maierhofer after McCarthy confirmed Kevin Doyle and Andy Keogh are out of this match.
Wolves could also hand players such as Matt Hill, Ronald Zubar and Nenad Milijas a start in this match.
