Analysis:

Chelsea who have yet to win the Champions League but with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm starts offtheir home match against F.C Porto at Stamford Bridge. In the past two seasons they were denied in controversial circumstnces and they will be eager to go all the way this time round.

In the final of the 2007/2008 competition Chelsea lost to Manchester United on penalties while last season they were beaten by Andres Iniesta's late strike against Barcelona in the semi-finals. Carlo Ancelotti who has a 100% record since coming into the side and has won the Champions League with A.C Milan will now aim to get them the trophy.

Ancelotti will no doubt want his 100% record to continue against F.C Porto in a group that also includes Atletico Madrid and APOEL Nicosia. However the Blues will have to make do without the services of suspended Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa after they were punished for their actions against Barcelona last season.

Therefore Branislav Ivanovic is expeced to come in at right back to cover for Bosingwa with Ricardo Carvalho set to come into central defence alongside John Terry.

Nicolas Anelka will start upfront alone due to Drogba being suspnded. The likes of Deco (calf), Alex (groin) and Paulo Ferreira (knee) are still injured, while midfielders Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov have knee problems and will not feature.

For the visitors, they will hope to progress to the quarter finals after they were edged out 3-2 by Manchester United last season. Curerently they are unbeaten in their first four domestic matches of the season and have no major injury problems after welcoming back Cristian Rodriguez into the side. They are now wthout the likes of Lisandro Lopez and Lucho Gonzalez who left the club over the summer but manager Jesualdo Ferreira fees they will be fine without them.
