2009-09-11 - Colorado Buffaloes at Toledo Rockets
A Sports Betting Pick by Luccin
Venue: Toledo, Ohio
Kickoff : Friday 11th September 2009, 21:00 (ET)
Previous Meetings: First ever meeting
Two teams who had disappointing losses in the first week, Colorado would have expected to beat fierce rivals Colorado State and Toledo had high hopes of an upset win at Purdue.
Both will be looking to get the season underway this week, a big game on nationwide television is just what the doctor ordered.
Colorado :
The Buffs had a bad loss to in state rivals Colorado State (17-23) last week, they have now lost their home opener in 3 of the last 4 seasons, this points to poor pre season preparation.
More positively they have an 8-3 record the week after playing Colorado State, winning by an average of 19 points. Major plus points are that Colorado return their top 3 rushers, top 2 QB’s and top two receivers from last year.
A big negative is that they only return 4 starters on defence and the newcomers will need a big step up from last weeks performance if they are to shut down the Toledo attack.
Toledo :
Purdue handed out quite a beating to Toledo, winning 52-31, last weekend, and of great concern will have been the Rockets inability to run the ball, only a total of 27 yards were managed.
A bright note was the play of QB Aaron Opelt who slung it for well over 400 yards, a mighty performance but very one dimensional.
Toledo does have 16 returning starters from last seasons poor 3-9 team, they will need to show great improvement this season if they are to win against a major programme.
The Betting Prediction :
Colorado have a nice balanced offense and should prove too much for Toledo to handle. Toledo will have one eye on the game versus Ohio State next week and could easily slip up here.
The Pick :
Colorado 35-21 Toledo
