2009-09-11 - Bohemians vs Sligo Rovers
A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen
FAI Cup Quarter Final
Friday, 11th September 2009 - Kickoff 7.45pm
BOHEMIANS (Home Form W10 D2 L2)
Bohs have lost 2 games in a row and are now only 1 point ahead in the league after being 7 clear a few weeks back. One of those defeats came at Sligo only 2 weeks ago in a 1-0 scorline. Bohs looked to have been pulling away as they did last season but now find arch rivals Shamrock Rovers with them all the way.
But its FAI Cup action on show this weekend and Bohs are also the cup holders and will be looking at this game to get their form back on track.
Bohs home record has been excellent for the most part this season. Before last weeks 2-1 shock defeat at home to lowly Bray Wanderers, Bohs had only conceded 2 home goals in their 13 games at their Dalymount Park ground.
That one defeat against Bray doubled it to make it 4. However Bohs did have 2 players sent off in that game, including goalkeeper Brian Murphy who is being scouted by alot of top English clubs at the moment.
Bohs will be without their midfield ace Gary Deegan who is suspended and keeper Brian Murphy as mentioned above. This is a very important game for Bohs who will be keen to put the last 2 games behind them and find their form again.
BOHS LAST 5 GAMES : W2 D1 L2
Bohs 1-0 Cork
Drogheda 1-1 Bohs
Bohs 5-0 Galway
Sligo 1-0 Bohs
Bohs 1-2 Bray
SLIGO ROVERS (Away Form W2 D5 L6)
Sligo celebrated a terrific win over their opponents in this game 2 weeks ago. That 1-0 win on the night was fully deserved and opened up the title race again but also gave Sligo a much needed 3 points as they battle to avoid the drop.
Sligo are currently third from bottom but only 3 clear of bottom side Bray Wanderers who have a game in hand and 1 ahead of second bottom Drogheda.
But Sligo's overall form has been very poor of late. That win against Bohs was only their second win in 13 games in the league. At the start of the season it took them till the 6th game to earn a win.
There have been a few highlights this season such as the already mentioned 1-0 win over Bohs but they also got a terrific 2-1 away at rivals and fourth place Derry City.
Sligo's away form too has got to be a worry going into this game. Their last away win came on May 29th in a 2-0 win at Dundalk. Since then in the league it has been 2 draws and 4 defeats on the road.
But this is the Cup and anything can happen. Sligo's main priority will be survival but no doubt wouldn't mind a place in the Semi Final of the FAI Cup.
SLIGO LAST 5 GAMES : W2 D2 L1
Sligo 0-4 Derry
Sligo 1-0 Derry (FAI CUP)
Bray 2-2 Sligo
Sligo 1-0 Bohs
Drogheda 2-2 Sligo
HEAD TO HEAD THIS SEASON
Sligo 0-0 Bohs
Bohs 2-0 Sligo
Sligo 1-0 Bohs
THe Betting VERDICT
Bohs to avenge their defeat of 2 weeks ago. After 2 defeats they will need a win to boost confidence again.
A BOHS WIN at 4/11 or consider BOHS -1 at 11/10 which is a very good price for me as Bohs are well capable of giving teams a hammering if they play anything near their best.
The Pick :
Bohemians 3-1 Sligo Rovers
