2009-08-28 - Bray Wanderers vs Derry City

A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen

Bray Wanderers v Derry City
Football: Republic of Ireland, Premier League 2009
Friday, 28th August 2009 - Kickoff 19:45

BRAY WANDERERS (10th)
Home Record W2 D5 L5

Bray sit rock bottom of the League Of Ireland on 20 points although they do have a game in hand over Sligo and Drogheda who are 2 and 3 points ahead of them. Unless Bray hit really good form over the last 12 games its highly likely that they will at least be in one of the two relegation play off positions and possibly still in last place where they will be automatically relegated.

Wanderers started the season quite well, with only 1 defeat in 5 games. However they mangaged only 1 win in 9 after that. Their current form has not been good and they have only managed 2 points in their last 4 games and have not won in their last 4 home ties.

The highlights of this poor season has been a 1-0 away win at title contenders Shamrock Rovers, however Rovers poor performance that night had as much to do with it and they did manage an excellent 3 points at Drogheda a few weeks back by 2-1 against a Drogheda side who had been hitting form.

BRAY LAST 5 GAMES W1 D2 L2
Drogheda 1-2 Bray
Bray 1-2 Galway
Cork 1-0 Bray
Dundalk 0-0 Bray
Bray 2-2 Sligo

DERRY CITY (4TH)
Away Record W6 D2 L4

Derry have slipped to fourth position and are 14 points behind leaders Bohs but with a game in hand. With only 12 games remaining, it looks like they are now out of the title race but are certainly still fighting for one of the two Europa Cup spots. They are now out of any cup competitions so they will be firmly concentrating on the league.

Derry started the season very inconsistently, failing to finish sides off despite dominating alot of games. However after beating Drogheda 3-0 in May, they went on a terrific run of 6 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat which saw them enter the title race and into second position. Their form has faltered again of late but they did win their last 2 league games after going 4 without a win before that.

Derry have a very strong squad and will still feel they can finish second. They have an excellent away record this season and will certainly feel they can win this one. They have plenty of players who can score goals and they have along with Cork City, scored the most goals away from home in the league.

DERRY LAST 5 GAMES W2 D1 L2
Derry City 1-1 Cork
Shamrock Rovers 2-1 Derry City
Sligo Rovers 0-4 Derry City
Sligo 1-0 Derry City ( FAI CUP )
Derry City 1-0 St Patricks

HEAD TO HEAD THIS SEASON

Bray 1-1 Derry City
Derry City 2-0 Bray

THE BETTING VERDICT

DERRY can continue their impressive away form with a win here. They are available at 8/11.

I also very much like the OVER 2.5 GOALS bet for this at 5/4. Derry have scored plenty of goals away from home but also Bray despite being bottom have also managed a good goals for record at home but have conceded too many down the other end.

The Pick :

BRAY WANDERERS 1-3 DERRY CITY
