2009-02-28 - Arsenal vs Fulham
A Sports Betting Pick by Gooner
Football: England, Premier League
Saturday, 28th February 2009 - Kickoff 15:00
Arsenal (5th - Home Rec : 7-4-2 18:11)
Arsenal are on an 12 match unbeaten run in the Premier League - a statistic that sounds fine until you understand that they've drawn SEVEN of those games, including the last three in a row that have all finished 0-0.
Manager Arsene Wenger can moan all that he wants to about "the kids" being nervous and failing to take their chances, but quite frankly much of Arsenal's play is pretty passing outside the penalty area and the Gunners are not creating enough oppotunities inside the box.
Arsenal Team News :
Arsenal will have Abou Diaby available following a calf problem and William Gallas has recovered from a knock, but Eduardo is out with a hamstring injury.
The Gooners still have a long injury list with Theo Walcott (shoulder), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Mikael Silvestre (calf), Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) and Cesc Fabregas (knee) all sidelined.
Fulham (8th - Away Rec : 0-6-7 3:13)
Fulham have been pretty goal shy themselves at times this season and a total of only three goals away from Craven Cottage speaks volumes for the style of play on the road - PARK THE BUS !
And that's been effective enough, earning three scoreless draws in the last six away games.
Fulham Team News :
Andy Johnson could be out - he was injured in training and missed Fulham's midweek FA Cup win over Swansea. Frederik Stoor will replace the suspended John Pantsil at right-back.
Head to Head
Arsenal have a good record at home against Fulham, winning 5 of the last six occasions, with the exception being a 0-0 draw five seasons ago.
Fulham won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in August.
The Betting Verdict
There is nothing surer than the fact that Arsenal will dominate most facets of this game ... but exactly where do you see the goals coming from?
Fulham have the ability to frustrate teams with a defence, and have three clean sheets in the last six away games, but when breached the defence often leaks several goals.
If Arsenal can score early enough, then it might ease the nerves and if Fulham come out of their shell then we could see 2-3 goals for the Arse ... otherwise another Saturday spent swearing at the TV watching as a 0-0 draw beckons.
