2009-01-10 - Arsenal vs Bolton
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Arsenal who are currently fifth in the Premiership will want to win and keep any slim chances of them winning the Premiership alive with this match. After a disappointing first half of the season where they fell ten points behind Liverpool, Arsene Wenger will need to get his boys fighting for the second half and stay in touch with the leaders.
A win for Arsenal will give them a chance to close the gap on surprise package Aston Villa who are lying in fourth spot with 38 points. Arsenal have been showing good performances in draws against Liverpool and Villa and a victory over Portsmouth, as well as a 3-1 win over Plymouth in the FA Cup.
Arsenal will not have the likes of defensive duo William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre as they will be out for up to three weeks with injuries. And after missing the clash against Portsmouth, the likes of Kolo Toure , Gael Clichy and Denilson are available again for this match. Alex Song is also back in the side after serving his suspension.
Captain Cesc Fabregas (knee), Theo Walcott (shoulder), and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) as well as striker Eduardo are all long-term absentees.
As for the visitors Bolton, they are coming into this match after defeats against Liverpool and Wigan since Christmas period. Last weekend they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Sunderland as well.
Now they are 11th in the table, but recent results have left them just three points above the relegation zone.
In the past Bolton have had some success against Arsenal, but it will not be an easy task with a home match against Champions Manchester United to come next weekend.
The visitors will miss the likes of Kevin Nolan who is suspended for two matches and Iceland international Gretar Steinsson is out of this clash due to suspension as well. Also missing from the Bolton squad is Centre-back Gary Cahill who is out with rib and hip injuries but midfielder Gavin McCann returns after serving his suspension.
Ebi Smolarek will hope that his last goal against Sunderland is enough to earn him a place in the side for today's match.
