2008-12-13 - Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Analysis:Manchester United travels to White Hart Lane and for Dimitar Berbatov he will be hoping to recover in time to face his former team mates in this match after leaving Spurs to join the Red Devils.
Berbatov is still in a race to get fit as he is not fully fit with an achilles problem and his conditions will be assessed before he can be fielded. It occured in the match against Sunderland and that caused him to miss the 2-2 draw with Aalborg in midweek.
Ferguson will hope he can recover in time as there are a number of selection problems with injuries and suspension for the Red Devils. Wayne Rooney is definitely missing through suspension, so Carlos Tevez, who scored a last-minute equaliser in last season's match, will start. Should Berbatov not start this match then Ryan Giggs could be used to provide support to Tevez upfront.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also hoping to start this match after having a hip problem against Sunderland and was not fielded against Aalborg in midweek. Michael Carrick could miss the chance to feature against his former club as he has a thigh problem and could miss out. If that happens then we will see Anderson partner Darren Fletcher in central midfield for this match.
Patrice Evra is out after collecting five yellow cards and after the four match ban imposed by the FA he is not likely to play against until next month. So, we will see John O'Shea start in his place at right back. Rafael da Silva will replace skipper Gary Neville on the right, but Rio Ferdinand suffered a back spasm against Aalborg so he will not feature here. Jonny Evans and Nemanja Vidic will be the preferred partnership in central defence.
Tottenham will start this match after losing their first home match to Everton and they could face their second defeat here in this match. But since that defeat Redknapp's side have managed to beat Watford in the Carling Cup and West Ham in the Premier League at Upton Park.
Spurs Captain Ledley King is expected to be fit to face United while Roman Pavlyuchenko is expected to start upfront in this match. The fact that Fraizer Campbell who is unable to face his parent club means there is only Darren Bent left to choose upfront.
Jamie O'Hara who came on as a substitute to score against West Ham will hope he has impressed enough to be chosen for this match once again.
