2008-11-04 - Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Both sides head into this match tied on seven points and a win for Liverpool could give them a ticket to the next round provided that PSV Eindhoven gets beaten tonight.
Liverpool will hope that they can have star striker Fernando Torres to face his former club after he misses their defeat to Tottenham at the weekend. Torres missed his last five matches and a late decision will be made if he does gets fielded or not.
Atletico will hope to cause another upset and inflict a second defeat in a row to the Reds after they were beaten in their last match against a rejuvenated Spurs side managed by Harry Redknapp.
When they last met in October, Atletico Madrid was unlucky not to have won the match at the Vicente Calderon.
For Liverpool, apart from Torres being their only concern, Albert Riera will maintain his place on the left wing. Fabio Aurelio could come in for Andrea Dossena at left-back, while Xabi Alonso is expected to come in should Torres fails a late fitness test.
Centre-back Martin Skrtel remains on the long-term injury list which means that Denmark international Daniel Agger will keep his place in the team.
Atletico strikker Sergio Aguero will start this match after scoring two goals against Mallorca at the weekend. Also former Liverpool players Luis Garcia and Florent Sinama Pongolle should get a chance to feature against the Reds.
Goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has returned to fitness but the likes of Czech international centre-back Tomas Ujfalusi as well as Greece defender Giourkas Seitaridis are both injured and will not see action.
