2008-09-24 - Portsmouth vs Chelsea
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Chelsea comes into this eager to do better than they did last season after finishing as Runners-up and it will be another all Premiership clash as they take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
These sides have already met earlier this season in the Premiership with Chelsea winning 4-0. Now they will be egaer to return to winning ways after being held by Premiership Champions Manchester United 1-1 in their last match.
The home side goes into this match aiming to pull off an upset and do better than they did last season after they were knocked out in the fourth round going down to Blackburn Rovers.
They are coming into this match on the back of a 6-0 thrashing at the back of the hands of Manchester City and it will not be easy against Chelsea who will be keen to get back to winning ways.
The home side will not have it easy as they are missing the likes of Lassana Diarra, Sean Davis and Papa Bouba Diop who are all out through injury. Lassana Diarra who played for Chelses before will not be able to face his former club as he is unavailable due to a knee ligament injury while Davis and Diop are struggling with groin and hamstring problems.
That means that former Arsenal and West Brom striker Nwanku Kanu will start this match since scoring the winner in the FA Cup Final back in May. John Utaka is also set to play at some point in this match. The likes of Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and skipper Sol Campbell are all likely to be rested here.
The visitors Chelsea will not have the likes of Portugal duo Deco (thigh) and Ricardo Carvalho (knee) ahead of this match. Michael Essien (knee) is a long-term injury victim while Didier Drogba (knee) and Michael Ballack (ankle) are still short of match fitness and will not likely to be risked.
