Analysis:Match of the week no doubt as the top two of last season go head to head in this match at Stamford Bridge. Should Chelsea win then United will have a tough task of catching up as they would be nine points behind them.
United will therefore not want to get beaten here nor lose nine points before the end of September. It must be said that Scolari has done a great job since coming as their coach and the Blues will look to continue their good form at home that has seen them unbeaten in 84 league matches - an English record which dates back to 2004. But if one team that love breaking records, it is Manchester United and it would be foolish to write them off here.
Sir Alex Ferguson side has not won at Stamford Bridge for the past ten games there now and have scored just once there during that time. But for United they will know that they cannot afford to lose having already lost to Liverpool last weekend. If they lose again that will break yet another record in that Ferguson's men have not lost successive league games in over three-and-half-years. The last time that happened was when they were beaten by Everton and Norwich in 2005.
United also struggled to find the goals in midweek as they could only draw with Villarreal 0-0 in the Champions League. Chelsea on the other hand demolished Bordeaux by 4-0!
The good news for Chelsea is that the red card which John Terry earned has been overturned an he will now start this match and Scolari could well opt to retain the same team that beat Manchester City as well as Bordeaux in the Champions League.
But with Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba eager to return to the starting lineup, Scolari may bring them on in some point of the game.
As for United, Jonny Evans played in midweek and he is expected to keep his place ahead of Gary Neville. Cristiano Ronaldo and Dimitar Berbatov could return after he came on as a substitute against Villarreal. That means that Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez also are likely starters.
The likes of Darren Fletcher, Park Ji-sung and Nani all started in the Champions League clash but are likely to find themselves back on the bench for this match.
Paul Scholes is likely to strart after his suspension.
