WHICH ONLINE BOOKIE OFFERS THE BEST ODDS?
One of the easiest ways to profit from betting is to make sure that you’re getting the best odds. Surprisingly however the feedback that I get from fellow punters & on the forum is that most bettors cannot be bothered doing the work to compare odds or maintain half a dozen accounts to ensure that they achieve the best prices.
So in order to help youoptimise your betting odds, we’ve analysed the actual prices offered by the bookmakers in two main football betting markets to find out which bookie really does offer the best prices.
We collated all last seasons data from our top recommended bookmakers
- 14 at current count. We have not included:
· any of the smaller “fly-by-night” bookmakers or higher risk dodgy dealers
· betting exchanges that do not offer enough guaranteed volume or accumulator bets.
As you’d expect it’s not straight forward but our analysis highlights several bookies at the top of the list of “must have” sports bookmaker accounts.
The table (above) summarises our analysis of the top bookmakers for English Premier League, English Championship and FA Cup prices during the course of the 2007-08 season.
The left columns show which bookmaker consistently had the best prices for teams rated as strong favourites in England - prices available at 1.70 (7/10) or less - on the Friday night / Saturday mornings of each game.
It should come as no surprise that giant Austrian bookmaker Interwetten comes out on top - they frequently will hold onto the price of a big favourite all weekend - no matter what other sports books are doing. Our analysis shows that Interwetten were the best place to play your English bankers nearly a quarter of the time.
The table (above) from the same 2007-08 season football betting data shows which bookmaker consistently offered the best prices for English Outsiders.
The term Outsider (or longshot, under dog, etc) is defined as any team priced at 4.00 (3/1) or more.
At least UK recreational giant Bet365flew the flag here - coming in second with the best odds on an under dog 18% of the time.
Eurobet and PaddyPower were close behind in the minor places. Interestingly, PaddyPower were nearly always best price on teams that were facing Man United at Old Trafford - a sign that Irish punters still back United heavily I guess.
When we analyse the European football betting markets (particularly in Italy) we really do see why it pays to take a look at some of the international giants of internet sports betting.
PinnacleSports were by far the best bookmaker to use when backing Serie A favourites. Pinnacle Sports offered the best price 42% of the time, and this season there were plenty of banker doubles to be had on Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan!
The minor spots were filled by Interwetten, Globet and BetFred, with Bet365 completing the set in 5th place. That said - these 5 bookmakers took a whopping 96% of the total market's best price - and so if you're placing bets anywhere else then you are very unlikely to be getting the best prices.
So we've got some clear conclusions!
Which bookie has the sharpest pencil? Basically it depends on the style of betting that you like - bankers or outsiders - Favourites or longshots - and UK or European football … but there are some clear and obvious choices for 'best bookmaker'.
You need to have PinnacleSports AND Interwetten as your main bookies - if you’re going anywhere else then you are simply throwing money away on more than half of your bets. No matter which league you're betting on - if you want a good price on a favourite - these guys have it more often than not.
PinnacleSports are the outstanding choice for UK longshot punters - they offer prices significantly better than the mainstream English bookies - & despite being based in Curaçao (Netherlands Antilles) they are prepared to offer the top prices.
Bet365 are a good second choice for UK games - and are top choice for European games - and so they really do need to be on your 'must have' list.
Get back into profits by betting at the most profitable places for punters - don’t accept poor prices like 'Joe Average high street punter' - get online & do something about it!
Pinnacle Sports, Globet and Eurobet finished out the minor money with smaller shares. But many bookmakers - even those with great reputations like Ladbrokes and Victor Chandler - just do not feature statistically for the best prices.
The outstanding bookmaker in this betting category was PinnacleSportswith the market's best price a massive 45% of the time - that is as much as the next three sites put together !
If you fancy a European upset then UK bookie Bet365is top of the list for offering best prices on a longshot (26% of the time), with savvy internet bookmaker Gamebookers snaring 19% of the top prices.
If you’re not betting with these bookies when taking Euro favourites - then you’re not serious about your betting profits.
